Two weekends a year are critically important for the success of WEI’s Amador Hill Farm, especially one that is as far north as we are. The first weekend is May 25-26 and the second is June 1-2.
On the first of these weekends, we will be working on the fields, upgrading hoophouse beds, and preparing for transplants into summer growing areas on the farm.
On the second of these weekends, we will be working on the fields, upgrading hoophouse beds, and finishing up transplanting into summer growing areas on the farm. Additionally, with it being the first days of Pride Month, we’ll be taking this opportunity to do a small celebration. On June 1st, we’ll be revealing our new LGBTQ+ flag, celebrating the beauty and successes of our Co-directors Jacquelyn Zita and Karen Clark, and taking some time to share the Queer Herstory of WEI.
Everyone is invited to help with this event. Get to know the signature brassicas and nightshades growing up on Amador Hill; refurbish our herbs and greens for the long summer months; start a few exotics, put the potatoes to rest in beds of dirt and straw; learn to weed with precision and confidence. All in a weekend of fun, with a campfire, free movies, music and dancing into the night. Ask about overnight accommodations. Limited options available at the WEI FarmStay.
