WHAT is included in the Weekend Training: (something for beginners and something for advanced farmers and returning participants from last year): Hoophouse Building, Composting and Vermiculture, Season Extension Growing, Aquaponics (beginning and advanced), Building Food Storage Cellars, Organic Garlic Farming, Medicinal Herb Farming, Microgreen Production, Beekeeping and Honey-Making, Organic Orcharding, and Building and Stretching Deer Fence. The weekend includes Will Allen and his staff from Milwaukee providing a full-scale Growing and Building Sustainable Food Communities training. This regional training is for less than the cost of going to the Milwaukee site and specifically designed for urban and rural farmers and gardeners in our region. WEI serves as a Growing Power Regional Outreach Training Center, to bring Growing Power to our region and sharing with Growing Power the mission of inspiring communities to build sustainable food systems that are equitable and ecologically sound, creating a just world, one food-secure community at a time
