You are invited to attend the annual WEI Open House at the WEI farm campus this Saturday, May 17, 9:00-5:00. Bring family, friends and children to enjoy the day, participate in activities and celebrate with our new 2008 Scholar-Under-Fire, Paul Wotzka, and WEI writer-in-residence, Laurie Allman. Meet the WEI staff, board members and farm and environmental justice interns.
Map to WEI.

Events will include:

9:00 a.m.Trillium 5K Walk/Run from the Wild River State Park to Amador Hill (be at WEI before 9:00 if you want to participate)
10:00 a.m. pancake breakfast at WEI

Noon celebration event with catered lunch by chef Steven Jones from Center City Market. Followed by featured lecture from 2008 Scholar-Under-Fire, Paul Wotzka, on Atrazine threats to our Minnesota waterways and farmlands.

Afternoon activities will include workshops on WEI projects and programs, nature walk through the WEI springtime woods, tours of the WEI farm, orchard, greenhouse, beehives and chicken patch. Activities for young children will be on-going along with opportunities for adults and older children to participate in guided spring planting and farm work.

4:30 p.m. participate in the annual "interplayful" scarf dance on the WEI orchard -- bring on the bloom!

We recommend that you combine the day with the Seegwan celebration in our neighboring Wild River State Park. Make a day of it and enjoy this late but beautiful spring. We think the apple trees will reach nearly mature bloom this weekend.

Please remember that we cannot accommodate your family pets. A caring and attentive adult must accompany all children.
