Paul Wotzka (WEI Scholar Under Fire) April Lectures Series in Chisago County

WEI believes it is important to honor the courage and integrity of a researcher and scholar who takes great risks on what they know and what they believe is the public's right to know.  Paul Wotzka, scientist, engineer, and hydrologist, was unanimously voted by the WEI Board of Directors as WEI's 2008-2009 Scholar Under Fire. On April 25th at the Taylor’s Falls Memorial Community Center, 312 Government Street at 1:00 pm and on April 26th at the North Branch Area Library Community Room, 6355 379th St., North Branch at 6:00 pm, WEI convened thePaul Wotzka Lecture Series,  “Atrazine, Nitrates, and Corn-Based Ethanol –Implications for Minnesota’s Water Resources”, a lecture that provided research on the on-farm uses of Atrazine and nitrates and  concentrations of these chemicals in Minnesota waterways and the current status of corn-based ethanol in Minnesota. 

The lectures are co-sponsored by the Minnesota Institute for Sustainable Agriculture (MISA), the Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE), the Chisago County Audobon Society, the Isanti County Environmental Group, and the Citizens for the Rural Countryside.
