Residents of Amador and Sunrise Townships are invited to a free informational gathering to learn about the Amador-Sunrise Land Registry, a program of the nonprofit Women’s Environmental Institute. The informal presentation will be geared toward adults, and will take place in the Visitor Center at Wild River State Park. Included will be an introduction to the Registry, a presentation by naturalist Dave Crawford about the unique natural features of the local area, and a casual social with refreshments. After the program, participants are welcome to enjoy the park’s visitor center, ski, or hike until the park closes for the day at dusk.
Advance reservation is required to attend the gathering: please contact program coordinator Laurie Allmann by phone at 651-583-0705 (ext 2) or via email at
laurie@w-e-i.org. Note: Park permits are necessary for vehicles entering Wild River State Park. Participants who do not have an annual state park permit may stop at the Park Office upon arrival to receive a free daily permit.
The Amador-Sunrise Land Registry was established by the Women’s Environmental Institute in 2008. The aim of the program is to create an informal community of private landowners who share an appreciation for the rural and natural heritage of the Amador-Sunrise area, and are interested in caring for their land in ways that protect these values. Membership in the Registry is free. Benefits include invitation to quarterly educational gatherings focused on conservation topics, and personalized ecological services, including an “Ecologist Walk-about” to learn about your land’s natural features and get ideas for possible conservation strategies.
Funding assistance to launch this new program has been provided by Embrace Open Space, which is supported in part by the McKnight Foundation. For more information about the Amador-Sunrise Registry and other programs of the Women’s Environmental Institute, please click here.
